What Factors Affect the Accuracy of Automatic Pipe Bending Machines
News 2026-08-11
Finished‑product accuracy varies widely among automatic pipe bending machines on the market. During practical production, manufacturers often face troubles such as angle deviation, tube wrinkling, tube flattening and material spring‑back. Machining accuracy is not only determined by the machine itself, but also jointly affected by machine configuration, molds, tube material, processing parameters and daily maintenance.

Mainstream pipe benders in the industry fall into three categories: automatic pipe bending machines, CNC pipe bending machines and hydraulic pipe bending machines. Different driving methods lead to distinct accuracy performance. Servo‑driven automatic CNC pipe benders adopt closed‑loop servo control for feeding, rotation and bending axes together with high‑precision encoders, delivering high angle repeat accuracy. They are ideal for high‑precision workpieces like automobile pipelines, motorcycle frames and air‑condition tubes. Ordinary hydraulic pipe benders driven by hydraulic cylinders fit general‑purpose tube processing with moderate precision requirements.
Molds including bending die, clamping die, anti‑wrinkle die and mandrel are critical for guaranteed accuracy. Insufficient hardness, wear or size mismatch between molds and workpieces will cause tube wall collapse, outer‑wall thinning and inner‑side wrinkling. Suitable mandrels are required for thin‑wall tubes to avoid inner deformation.
Raw tube conditions also matter. Batch differences in material, wall thickness, hardness and roundness will result in different spring‑back performance. Stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steel feature different spring‑back coefficients, so angle compensation values must be set on the machine to offset spring‑back errors.
Besides, parameter settings, lubrication supply and regular machine maintenance influence long‑term accuracy. Servo origin offset, unstable hydraulic pressure and poorly‑lubricated guide rails will gradually cause dimension drift. When selecting automatic pipe bending machines, factories should not only compare prices, but also match machine models and complete mold solutions according to tube specifications and precision requirements. Routine maintenance is necessary for stable qualified output.
